Breastfeeding at the café and in public areas

Are you also one of those people who can’t wait to go outside once the sun starts to shine and spring is suddenly there?

I was lucky that my child number three was a late summer child, which gave plenty of opportunities for “open air breastfeeding”. All over sudden, the whole city turned into my “playground”, where I could meet friends in cafés and parks around the city. So maternity leave became a pleasure in a completely different way, simply because of the season and the weather.

I was one of the first to have children among my friends, and I used to breastfeed all the time. But that should not prevent me from all the wonderful meet-ups at cafés with my girlfriends and my mums group. So thank goodness for nursing clothes – what they have saved me for many embarrassing or uncomfortable situations! Because the baby, she obviously did not care about time and place; when she was hungry, she just wanted food – and preferably the “fast food” way 😊

So we have been breastfeeding on various curb stones, stairwells and bus stops – and a couple of times on the always crowded bus, on the way to the city.

I know that for some breastfeeding mums, it can already get too much by just sitting in any public space. I myself have a very relaxed attitude about breastfeeding and have not had any problems with nursing in public, but in a super crowded bus on my way to the city, it was even too much for me. But luckily, I had my nursing blouse that saved me! Because when the child is close to the breast and breastfeeding, you are by no means exposed to the public once you are wearing nursing clothes.

Now summer is on its way, so I have some great suggestions for some lovely everyday breastfeeding dresses and everyday breastfeeding blouses as well as nursing bras. See the gallery below for a hand-picked selection of nursing wear from me to you:
